Hamish Bichan

Director

As a pioneer in the area of bio-methane from Anaerobic Digestion, Hamish was one of the first to see the potential of CO₂ recovery from biogas.  Together with Nick Finding and Christopher Carson, they founded BioCarbonics to provide a more reliable supply model for the CO₂ industry in the UK.  Hamish is active as an advisor and Director of BioCarbonics, and plays an instrumental role in building relationships with future sources, investors and strategic partners.  He is the founding director of Active Business Partnerships offering strategic management to large farming businesses, and was the Executive Chairman of J V Energen LLP, the UK’s first gas-to-grid AD plant located in Dorset.  In addition, he was Chairman of Barrow Shipping, which offers bio-methane shipping services to AD plants, and is the founding director of Optimal Biogas, which provides O&M services to investor owned AD plants.

Nick Finding

Director

Nick was one of the entrepreneurial forces behind the start-up of BioCarbonics, as part of the development of the first gas-to-grid AD plant in Dorset, England.  Through his focus on monetising all of the various outputs from the Dorset AD site, Nick came in contact with Christopher Carson, and together they planted the seeds for a biogas-based CO₂ business and the formation of BioCarbonics.  Nick has been working in the agricultural industry for 40 years, developing and managing the family farming business, and is the founder of J V Farming, a joint venture currently farming 1,750 hectare.  Nick was also the co-founder of J V Energen LLP, which was a joint venture between the Duchy of Cornwall and local farmers and continues to produce renewable gas from the Anaerobic digestion of biomass, and was also a director of Barrow Shipping.  In 2018 Nick successfully started up another new venture West Country Soil Improvement to bag the solid digestate from the AD plant to sell as a soil enricher.
